Hello
On December 13 - 15, I will join the Credit Agricole team to participate in the 24H Tremblant, an endurance event hosted in Mount Tremblant ski resort in Canada. Our team of six will "skin up" and ski down Mont Tremblant for 24 hours and raise funds to support kids like Liam who received organ transplants.
Liam received a heart transplant. Today, he enjoys an active life and has a strong future ahead of him. We hope that our effort will provide similar prospect to many more organ recipients. My goal is to raise $1000 to help other children like Liam.
For those of you not familiar with skiing, "skinning up" means climbing uphill on skis, by attaching special adhesive strips called "skins" to the bottoms of the skis. The "skins" provide traction to allow you to ascend the mountain by your own means. You are essentially "walking" your skis uphill instead of riding a chair lift. Also called "backcountry skiing" or "Alpine touring", it can be particularly exhausting... and you need a good heart (and legs...) to get to the top. Feeling my heart pump hard in my chest will be a great reminder of the ordeal Liam faced and overcame with organ donation.
In backcountry skiing, each little step uphill counts and gets you closer to the summit. Similarly, each of your contribution, large or small, will matter and get our team closer to our fundraising goals. So, in advance, many thanks for your kind heart!
